Abstract
Aushadha Sevana kala (time of administration of medicine) described in Ayurveda treatises is on par with the chronotherapy practiced in conventional medicine. The time of administration of medicine is based on the predominant doṣa involved in a clinical condition. This pilot study focus on the administration of Vaishwanara Churna (medicated powder) in Madhya bhakta kala (midst of meal) in Functional Dyspepsia (FD). FD is one of the commonest case in clinical practice and it is a growing concern in majority of population. It is observed in clinical practice that in FD, the medicines are administered in Pragbhakta kala (before the food). This practice is associated with presentation of loose stools, nausea and medicine become unpalatable during the time of administration. This led to the concern of analyzing FD as a clinical condition with Samana vata dushti (impairment in entity which regulate physiology of digestion) and choosing the time of administration of medicine as Madhya bhakta kala. Subjects diagnosed as FD (as per ROME IV diagnostic criteria) were administered Vaishwanara Churna in Madhya bhakta kala for 28 days. There was improvement in the mean scores of Severity of Dyspepsia Assessment scale, Dyspepsia Questionnaire, Short Form Neepean Dyspepsia Index Scale in all the subjects.

Key words: Auṣadha Sēvana kala, chronotherapy, Samāna vata, Functional dyspepsia, Madhya bhakta kala, Pragbhakta kala
