Abstract
The concept of "Mutrala" is central to this study, referring to the diuretic property of substances that increase urine production. The study aims to develop an effective polyherbal decoction (Kashaya) to address this issue. Several Ayurvedic texts emphasize Mutrala properties of herbs, indicating their ability to stimulate urination. The study involves an experimental approach to assess the diuretic properties of Kashaya in rats. Acute toxicity testing was carried out to evaluate potential harmful effects of the Kashaya formulation at various doses. The diuretic study aimed to compare the effects of the test drug (mutralakashaya) with a standard diuretic (varunadikashaya) and a control (boiled and cooled water). The rats' urine was collected and analyzed for quality and electrolyte levels to determine the diuretic, natriuretic, and saluretic activities. Mutrala Kashaya displayed statistically significant urine output compared to the other two groups, while maintaining essential electrolyte levels in comparison to other two. The developed Mutrala Kashaya exhibited safe usage and potent diuretic effects.
