Abstract
Abstract
Background: Chronic venous ulcers, primarily caused by chronic venous insufficiency, represent a significant healthcare challenge, often leading to prolonged suffering and high treatment costs. Conventional treatments may offer limited success, highlighting the need for alternative approaches. This case study explores the effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatment for chronic venous ulcers.
Methods: A 47-year-old male with a 12-year history of chronic ulcers on both sides of his left ankle sought Ayurvedic treatment after conventional therapies showed limited results. The patient exhibited significant ulceration, swelling, and foul discharge, with radiological findings confirming chronic venous insufficiency. Ayurvedic therapy, including a combination of internal medicines and external treatments, was initiated.
Results: Within two months, the patient showed marked improvement, with significant reduction in ulcer size, pain, and discharge. The clinical features of Dushta Vrana (Venous Ulcer) were successfully managed through specific Ayurvedic protocols.
Conclusion: This case demonstrates the potential of Ayurvedic medicine in treating chronic venous ulcers, offering a promising alternative to conventional treatments. The rapid improvement observed suggests that Ayurvedic therapies can play a vital role in managing chronic ulcers, emphasizing the need for further research in wound care.
