Abstract
Zeequn Nafas, known as bronchial asthma, has been acknowledged in Unani medicine since ancient times. It is characterized by breathlessness resulting from airway constriction due to the accumulation of viscous phlegm, infiltration of morbid phlegm into the pharynx, inflammation, abnormal chest morphology, pollen grains, environmental pollution, and gas retention in the chest. A comprehensive literature review was conducted utilizing various databases and search terms pertinent to Zeequn Nafas, Unani medicine, and asthma. The prevalence of asthma has risen in both developed and developing nations. Diagnosis necessitates a thorough medical history, laboratory investigations, imaging, and spirometry. Management within Unani medicine employs concept-based remedies, including single medicines and compound formulations containing herbs. However, current therapies fail to control asthma in 5% of cases, induce adverse effects, require lifelong treatment, and are costly. To address these limitations, there is a need to explore Zeequn Nafas within the Unani medicine framework to enhance its control and management. The review analyzes both classical and contemporary approaches, providing a comprehensive examination of Zeequn Nafas and describing various Unani therapeutic modalities such as regimental therapies, dietotherapy, and pharmacotherapy. While some clinical trials have been conducted, further research is necessary to establish the safety and efficacy of Unani interventions in asthma.

Key words: Zeequn Nafas, Asthma, AYUSH, Unani Medicine, Dama
